Visit with me, Angel, the poodle, and Sadie, the labradoodle, and all our friends. My owner, Donna J. Shepherd, has even written a book about us! "Poodle and Doodle" is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Guardian Angel Publishing, and lots of other places. Woof!

Bringing home a new pet can be difficult for everyone, especially if there is already a pet at home! Two silly dogs learn a valuable lesson about friendship in this charming, colorful story! Both the antics and the illustrations made me laugh! - Jennifer Reed
"Poodle and Doodle is a fun read-a-loud that celebrates the gift found in differences. Loved it!" - Caroline Pignat, author of Greener Grass, WINNER of the Governor General's Award 2009.

About Me!

I'm Angel, a purebreed poodle. I know the book is called Poodle AND Doodle, but this blog should be all about ME. I'm the true star in the family, you know. I go every few weeks to the groomer to get beautified, and I do my nails every morning. The other dogs don't even go to the groomer. Mama Donna adopted me after my first owner's cat tried to treat me like a mouse. After getting shook around a few times, I was ready to leave. At the time I only weighed about three pounds. I'm up to about twelve pounds now, so that makes me a lightweight in this house, but I'm still the boss. Just ask me.

My owner, Donna Shepherd, wrote the book Poodle & Doodle. It's about me (of course), but I have to admit, just as much about the 'new' dog, a labradoodle. In the book, she is a 'he' named Scruffy, but in real life, her name is Sadie. Just her head is almost as big as I am!

Poodle and Doodle is published by Guardian Angel Publishing. The publisher has a page for Poodle & Doodle. Click HERE. It's on sale on Barnes & Noble. Click HERE to order! To order directly from the publisher or get the eBook, click HERE.

Merry Christmas

Mama Donna's writer friend, Cynthia Reeg, has a different kind of 'Oodle - a Schnoodle - a Schnauzer-Poodle combo named Holly. At least she has poodle in her. That's the important thing! Here she is wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Don't Feed Me This!

Mama Donna doesn't feed me very much 'people food.' She wants me to remain healthy I guess. But I sure do like the taste of potato chips. And my favorite snack is bananas. Every now and then, she still gives me a tiny bite.

If you care about your pet, and I know you do, check out this guide listing foods bad for your pet. Now that Mama Donna read this list, I may get even fewer potato chips!

Yet Another Kind of Oodle

Meet Mama Donna's author friend, Janet Ann Collins. She is owned by a bichon frise-poodle mix, sometimes called a 'poochon.' One of her books, Signs of Trouble, is illustrated by Jack Foster, the same great artist who did MY book, Poodle and Doodle. Here is Mama Collins with her book, The Peril of the Sinister Scientist, and her poochon.

to read an article about her.

Back to School Time!

Do you think Violet, from Mama Donna's book Topsy Turvy Land looks happy about being in school again? Why do you think her name is Violet?
(You'll know if you've read Dotty's Topsy Tale. ;)

This Poodle Love the Smoosh Faces

Every chance I get, I sneak into Leah's room to play with Cash. When we get tired, I get up on the bed and sleep side by side with the BT's. You'll notice that Cash is on his favorite blanket.

I look a lot different, but since we are more the same in size, we get along really well.  Just goes to show that even though dogs (and people!) sometimes look very different from one another, they can still get along. Ruff!

Boston Terrier Fun

The first Boston Terrier in this video looks a lot like my BT brother, Cash. Mama Donna says she loves his 'smoosh face.' Of course, she give me lots of kisses on my much longer nose!

Mama Donna's Friend with Her Poodle

Mama Donna goes to church with Miss Betty. Here she is with her 'baby girl,' Taffy.

Mama Donna Is a Turtle?

For Oodles of Fun that has nothing to do with dogs, check out this video of "Whispering Wally" called "The Trouble with Treasure." Mama Donna plays Torrie, a tiny sea turtle. Torrie might even be smaller than I am! Based on characters developed by Kevin S. Collier and Kristen Collier. Isn't Torrie cute? Not as cute as an oodle, but still cute.
TORRIE THE SEA TURTLE learns many lessons from her guide and mentor Wally the whale in their story time adventures. Torrie represents the curiosity of youth in all of us as well as the drive to explore and discover new things in a unknown environment. So, it's good to know that the young at heart with a huge guardian like Wally the whale can experience wonderful discoveries in the oceans with safety and security.

National Doodle Day

Okay, I know it's a different type of doodle, but I couldn't resist posting that today is National Doodle Day. What is Doodle Day? As part of NF Awareness month, celebrity doodles are available for auction on eBay during May. These doodles have a very important aim: the funds they raise will benefit NF, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).

To find out more, visit the site for National Doodle Day.

Mama Donna is interviewed!

Amelie Loves Poodle & Doodle

Today Mama Donna got a note from 2 1/2 year old Amelie's mama that said how much Amelie loves her Poodle & Doodle book. Here's what she said:

"Amelie is currently obsessed with the Poodle & Doodle book. She cracks up at the dogs drinking out of the toilet page and likes to show it to Jack (her dog) and say, "Look Jack, follow me, pay attention - dogs don't drink from the potty!"

She also likes to wear a hat while she reads it because the girl in the book wears one at the tea party and she thinks that's funny, too."

Here's a picture of beautiful Amelie wearing her tea party hat.
Amelie, I'm so glad you like my book and Mama Donna is, too! You're right to teach Jack not to drink form the toilet. Yuck! I would never!

She also likes to recreate scenes in the book - like the one where the poodle gets under Scruffy to keep from getting wet when it rains.
Amelie has so much reading her book. That makes my tail wag with happiness!

Tucker, the Singing Schnoodle

I always knew my relatives were talented - even distant ones like Tucker who warms up and reads music.

Oodles of Poodles

Pictured above are Mandy and Cassie. Both have gone on to Doggy Heaven, but they live forever in Mama Donna and Leah's hearts.

Hide the Chocolate from Sadie!

Did you know that chocolate is one of the most lethal foods a dog can eat? Now, I'm too little to reach the counter, but Sadie can. Mama Donna and all the family have to be really careful where they leave their candy, cookies, cakes, and anything else with chocolate in it. Sadie has been known to open a box of donuts, remove one, and close the lid afterwards leaving no one the wiser Рuntil they go for that chocolate cr̬me doughnut and it's nowhere to be found!

Here's a link to an article on chocolate poisoning. Check it out – especially if you have a big dog like Sadie!

Eatin' from the Big Bowl

Cash is waiting patiently in line for his turn to eat. He and I are eating the big dog (Sadie) food. We sneak into the laundry room to grab a few bites every chance we get. Shhh....don't tell Sadie!

Fun in the Snow

Raleigh, the goldendoodle, loves the snow. He's like me. Both of us had our faces covered today. We had oodles of fun!
